A Winter Wonderland

For our final holiday workshop, our artists created mixed media winter landscapes.  Collage, textured mediums and colored glazes helped to build layers and create interest.  And everyone seemed to like to spatter a bit of snow!

We are already planning a February Art Camp during vacation week and will keep you all posted on the details in January.  Wishing you all a very happy & safe holiday season.

Sincerely,
Joe & Christine Hannon

Holiday Slate Painting

Our studio was filled with eight fantastic young artists, most who had never done decorative painting before Saturday.  These ladies learned to double-load a brush, spatter paint snow, transfer a design with transfer paper and lettering.  We were so proud of how hard they worked, with very impressive results!

Block printed greeting cards

It was a perfect day in the studio this past Saturday.  Six very talented young artists learned how to make a block print and created a set of holiday cards.  I will let the pictures speak for themselves!

New Holiday Workshops

We are happy to announce three Saturday workshops for the holiday season:

Saturday sessions designed for kids in grades 5-12
All materials are included
Images shown are examples only.  Students will create their own images.

Nov. 30 - Block Printed Greeting Cards
Students will learn the linocut method of block printing, using linoleum cutting tools on soft lino surfaces designed for the safety of students. They will then create ten cards & envelopes from their block, exploring positive and negative space and color.
4 hours - 9am - 1pm
$40

Dec. 7 - Welcome Slates
A slate roofing tile will be transformed into a hand painted, winter themed welcome plaque, and varnished for outdoor durability.
3 hours - 9am - 12noon
$30

Dec. 14 - Mixed Media Winter Landscape Painting
Using several acrylic painting techniques and collage elements, students will complete a step by step, winter landscape canvas painting.  The 12 x 12 inch canvas has a gallery wrapped edge
which does not require framing, for a “ready to hang” accomplishment.
4 hours - 9am - 1pm
$40

Sign up for all three classes and receive a $10 discount.

If interested, please email us at hannonartworks@gmail.com to reserve a seat. Looking forward to playing in the studio with you soon!

Proud artists ended the week with a fantastic show

Last Friday we said goodbye to our second session of artists, but not before they were able to show an amazing week's worth of work.  The mixed media self portraits and the landscape paintings were most impressive, especially since several of our artists were only 9 years old!  We are looking forward to future "camps" during school vacations, and starting a Saturday class in October.  Details to come soon.  For those of you who requested to purchase picture frames, here it is:  jerrysartarama.com/frames

Thank you again for an inspiring week.  Stay awesome!

Illustrating their creative sides

Today our artists created their transferred image self portraits in the morning, and A.S. finished her dramatic painting of Beavertail Lighthouse. We are all so excited for our "gallery opening" tomorrow  at 3:30.  Friends, family, and siblings are all invited with light refreshments to be served.

Carving out amazing images

This morning the artists learned how to transfer their designs onto a soft block plate and how to carve it.  The designs were creative, but the skill these first time carvers showed was quite impressive.  Patience was key, and these kids were very patient!
