An artist must be flexible...

Today started off with great expectations of swirling colors and wild pop art designs, as we were supposed to do our marbleized paper.  Unfortunately, the paint did not settle properly (because Mrs. Hannon shook it too much this morning,) so we needed to postpone until tomorrow.  Our artists, ever flexible, jumped right into block printing, and we could not believe how much they accomplished in a short amount of time.  Not only did they design their plates, but the transferred them onto the block, learned how to use all of the different blades and even "pull" a few artist's proofs.  The proof is like a practice print, where the artist sees if everything was cut properly and it allows him to tweak the plate before using good printing paper.  Tomorrow the artists will marble paper and create a series of finished prints, in different color combinations and techniques.
